Chris Pearce was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasurer on 26 October 2004 with portfolio responsibility for corporate governance, financial services, financial markets and consumer affairs.
Chris holds the Federal Seat of Aston in outer metropolitan Melbourne. He won this seat in the high profile Aston by election in July 2001, a victory described by the Prime Minister as a turning point in the electoral fortunes of the Coalition Government. He has held the seat of Aston through two subsequent general elections. In 2004 he achieved a swing of more than 7 per cent, securing over 63 per cent of the two candidate preferred vote.
Prior to entering the Parliament, Chris spent 21 years in senior business roles in the music, communications and IT industries, culminating as the Australian and New Zealand Managing Director for one of the world’s top ten software companies.
Chris has a degree in business from Monash University and has completed a management development program at the Mount Eliza Australian Management College. He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and an Associate Fellow of the Australian Marketing Institute.
During his business career, Chris was a member of The Economist’s CEO Forum and an Associate Fellow of the CEO Institute of Australia.
Chris lives in his electorate with his wife, Andrea, and family.
