Release of the Productivity Commission Draft Report
The Minister for Competition Policy and Consumer Affairs, the Hon Chris Bowen MP, today welcomed the release of the Productivity Commission's Draft Report of the Review of Australia's Consumer Policy Framework.
"The Productivity Commission has made a valuable contribution to the discussion of a way forward for the consumer policy framework in Australia, to meet the needs of consumers in years to come," Mr Bowen said.
The Minister encouraged all interested parties to participate in the Commission's public consultation process. The Productivity Commission will meet with various stakeholders to garner views on the draft recommendations, and will accept further submissions from interested parties before producing a Final Report.
"The consumer policy framework is a priority for this Government," Mr Bowen said.
"The draft report provides a unique and important opportunity for the nation to advance the interests of consumers and businesses across the economy.
"We seek to establish a responsive and robust consumer environment, to the benefit of all Australian consumers.
"I encourage all stakeholders to become involved in the Productivity Commission's consultations."
