The Assistant Treasurer, Senator the Hon Arthur Sinodinos AO, today announced the appointment of Andrew Mills as a full-time Second Commissioner to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) for a seven-year period.
The ATO is the Government’s principal revenue collection agency. Its role is to manage and shape tax, excise and superannuation systems that fund services for Australians. The ATO is also responsible for the administration of a wide range of taxation and superannuation legislation.
Mr Mills is currently a director with specialist tax advisory firm Greenwoods & Freehills and is a former president of The Tax Institute, a respected body with members that include academics and leading tax professionals. He has extensive knowledge and experience in taxation in both the public and private sectors.
“I congratulate Mr Mills on his appointment as a Second Commissioner of Taxation,” said Senator Sinodinos.
Mr Mills is replacing Bruce Quigley who retired from his position as Second Commissioner, effective from 4 December 2013.
“I would like to acknowledge the tremendous contribution made to the ATO by Mr Quigley during his distinguished career in tax administration, and wish him well in his retirement,” said Senator Sinodinos.
