Bathurst coin to set pulses racing

Fifty years of extraordinary Bathurst moments have been captured in a collectible 50c coin that is sure to set the hearts of any Australian motorsport enthusiast alight.

The Royal Australian Mint and V8 Supercars have partnered to bring this supercharged design to life, which features the classic twists of Mount Panorama that transform into a high powered battlefield on the first weekend in October.

“The Royal Australian Mint have done a great job in capturing the energy and passion of this iconic event in a coin design,” said The Hon Bernie Ripoll MP, Parliamentary Secretary to The Treasurer.

“The Bathurst 1000 has a long and proud history, and is the most watched motor sport race in Australia, so it’s fitting that this milestone has been commemorated in coin form,” Mr Ripoll said.

The awesome power of the incredible machines that power this race almost motors off the face of this coin, and motorsport enthusiasts looking for a way to commemorate this milestone will be hard pressed to find a better collectible to display in their poolroom.

“It is a real privilege for our milestone to be commemorated in such a long-lasting way, and shows how meaningful this remarkable motorsport event is to Australian sporting culture,” said V8 Supercars spokesperson CEO David Malone.

“We hope that everyone who tunes in to watch the race this weekend will be excited to get their hands on this piece of Bathurst 1000 history,” David Malone said.
