Australian Small Business Advisory Services Programme

I am pleased to announce the names of the 34 successful applicants to be offered $17,243,425 over the next three years under the Australian Small Business Advisory Service (ASBAS) Programme Business Solutions 2014 round.

Small Businesses are the engine room of our economy. That is why the Abbott Government's Economic Action Strategy will help to build a strong, prosperous economy and a safe, secure Australia.

Our Government is focused on ensuring our nation is the best place to build and grow a small business.

The ASBAS Programme aims to improve the capacity of established not-for-profit small business advisory service providers to deliver low cost small business advisory and information services. Small businesses employ more than four million Australians nationwide and this increased capacity to deliver assistance will help the sector grow and prosper.

The Abbott Government recognises the importance of small businesses in supporting jobs and driving national prosperity, and is strongly committed to creating an environment in which small businesses can thrive.

Under the ASBAS Business Solutions 2014 round successful applicants will be funded to increase their capacity to deliver five advisory services to small business:

  1. Funding avenues and financial analysis;
  2. Building your business;
  3. Making the most of your talent and team;
  4. Management capabilities; and
  5. Digital engagement implementation.

Ensuring small businesses – whatever their stage of start-up or expansion – have access to professional and low cost advice is an important way to ensure success.

The successful applicants cover areas of Australia where unmet need and demand for advisory services has been identified.

The Government will work with the successful advisory service providers to enter into a funding agreement, and anticipates that providers will commence delivering advice to small businesses in March 2015.

More information on the ASBAS programme is available on www.business.gov.au/asbas or by contacting 13 28 46.
