Appointment of Part-Time Member to the Legal Committee of the Corporations and Markets Advisory Committee (CAMAC)

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Brian Salter as a part-time member of the Legal Committee of the Corporations and Markets Advisory Committee (CAMAC) until September 2014.

Mr Salter replaces Ms Gabrielle Upton, who resigned from CAMAC following her election to the New South Wales Parliament.

Mr Salter is the General Counsel and Company Secretary at AMP. Prior to this, he was a partner with law firm Clayton Utz for 19 years. He has more than 26 years experience in the legal profession specialising in banking and financial services, advising many of Australia's leading financial and wealth management companies on a range of funding, capital management and structured finance transactions and related projects. He also lectures part-time in law and is a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Banking and Finance Law and Practice.

CAMAC is established under Part 9 of the Australian Securities and Investments Commission Act 2011 (ASIC Act) to advise the Minister on corporate law and financial markets.

The Legal Committee of CAMAC is composed of senior corporate lawyers and provides advice on all matters coming before CAMAC.

The appointment of Mr Salter will continue the high level of skills and experience available to the Legal Committee of CAMAC, ensuring that the committee has appropriately qualified members to deal with the differing issues that may arise.

The appointment of Mr Salter brings the membership of the Legal Committee of CAMAC to 10 part-time members.
