The Minister for Financial Services and Regulation, Joe Hockey, today launched the website of the Australian Centre for Global Finance in Melbourne. The Centre is the corner stone in the Governments strategy for promoting Australia as a global financial centre.
The Treasurer, Peter Costello, was special guest speaker at the launch today. "This is a significant initiative which reinforces our strategy of positioning Australia as the key financial centre in the Asia-Pacific time zone," Minister Hockey said. "Our technology, infrastructure and the availability of our outstanding technologically skilled work force is making Australia a real contender in the global financial market place".
