The Government announced today that it will provide additional funding to Centrelink to improve service delivery for the Child Care Tax Rebate.
From 1 July 2006, taxpayers will be able to readily access the information required to claim the rebate. Information on families' child care fees and their final Child Care Benefit entitlement will be available electronically through the Family Assistance website. This is in addition to existing communication channels.
Families will benefit from these changes as the claiming process will be simpler.
Centrelink will also be working with child care services to improve data exchange, including electronic data transmission.
