Labor Trying to Scare Parents on Child Care Rebate

Labor is scaring parents in an attempt to score cheap political points on the 30% Child Care Rebate.

The Government has sent a clear and consistent message on the Child Care Tax Rebate from the start.

The Government wants all eligible parents to claim the Child Care Tax Rebate.

Over 640, 000 families will benefit from the rebate over the next three years. The rebate will pay up to 30 per cent of out of pocket expenses up to a maximum of $4 000 per child.

While parents are encouraged to keep their child care receipts, the Government has assistance in place to help all eligible parents claim the rebate.

If they haven’t got receipts, parents can get the child care fee and child care benefit data they need from the Family Assistance Office to help them complete their tax return.

Advice has been circulating for over a year that clearly outlines that parents simply need to contact the Family Assistance Office to help them claim the rebate if they have not kept their receipts.

Instead of trying to cause confusion and discourage parents, Labor should support the Government in ensuring all eligible parents claim the Child Care Tax Rebate.
