The Assistant Treasurer, Senator Rod Kemp, announced today that the Governor-General had appointed Mr Bruce Jones to the position of Second Commissioner of Taxation. The appointment is for a term of seven years.
Mr Jones- has over 33 years of wide and varied experience in tax administration. His roles in the Australian Taxation Office have extended from developing major technological initiatives, implementing significant community compliance systems and introducing improved financial management practices in his role as Chief Finance Officer. More recently Mr Jones has taken responsibility for implementing the Taxpayers' Charter.
This position became vacant on the appointment of Ms Moira Scollay to the role of Privacy Commissioner.
