ACCC appointment
The Albanese Government has today nominated Ms Catriona Lowe to be a Deputy Chairperson of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) for a five‑year period starting on 27 January 2023.
Ms Lowe is currently a board member of the Australian Energy Regulator.
Reserve Bank appointment
Mark Barnaba AM has agreed to serve another year on the Reserve Bank Board at my request.
Mr Barnaba’s current five‑year term as a part‑time member on the Reserve Bank Board is due to expire on 30 August 2022.
The Albanese Government will now extend Mr Barnaba’s term by a year, taking his tenure beyond the finalisation of a wide‑ranging review into the RBA.
Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors G20 Meeting
I am attending the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting in Indonesia with Reserve Bank Governor Philip Lowe from 15 to 16 July.
This meeting comes at a crucial time for our region and demonstrates the importance Australia places on our deep friendship and strategic partnership with Indonesia and their G20 presidency.
