Jim Chalmers 2022
The Hon Dr Jim Chalmers MP
Treasurer
Investing in a Future Made in Australia
The Albanese Labor Government will invest in a Future Made in Australia plan to bring new jobs and opportunities to communities in every part of our country.
Making our future here in Australia is about making the most of our nation’s potential and making sure everyone shares in the benefits.
Easing cost‑of‑living pressures
Helping Australians with the cost of living is our Government’s number one priority.
This Budget delivers a tax cut for every taxpayer, provides new energy bill relief for every household, cuts student debt and increases rent assistance for nearly 1 million households.
New power bill relief
The Albanese Labor Government will provide a $300 energy bill rebate to every household and additional energy bill relief to small businesses as part of the responsible cost of living help in the Budget.
Just like every taxpayer is getting a tax cut, every household will now get energy bill relief under the Albanese Government.
Tax reform to ease cost‑of‑living pressure, support investment and a Future Made in Australia, and create a fairer system
The Albanese Labor Government is delivering a tax cut for every taxpayer because we want hardworking Australians to keep more of what they earn.
This Budget continues our government’s methodical approach to tax reform and includes measures to make meaningful tax changes to benefit all Australians, support investment, build a Future Made in Australia and strengthen compliance.
Establishing a single front door for major investors
The Albanese Labor Government will establish a new front door for investors with major, transformational investment proposals to make it simpler to invest in Australia and attract more global and domestic capital.
