The Prime Minister is now in China. I understand your time as acting prime minister has literally just ended but let's go to the China visit. What is your benchmark for success from this trip?

JIM CHALMERS:

The Albanese Government is today releasing a consultation paper on its Sustainable Finance Strategy, which will help Australian companies, investors and the Australian community make the most of the energy and net zero transformation, and help Australia realise its ambition to become a renewable energy superpower.

JIM CHALMERS:

Thanks for having me back, Patricia.

KARVELAS:

The Albanese Government’s 10‑point cost‑of‑living plan ramps up today, with billions of dollars of cost‑of‑living relief being rolled out to Australian households and small businesses in November – relief that Australian Bureau of Statistics data confirmed is taking half a percentage point off inflation.

Additional cost‑of‑living relief which will roll out this month, includes:

JIM CHALMERS:

• The Federal and Queensland Labor Governments and the Rockhampton Regional Council Governments are jointly funding the Mount Morgan Water Supply Pipeline Project
• The Pipeline will deliver long-term water security for Mount Morgan, and will support jobs and growth in the town
• The Project will deliver approximately 50 jobs and deliver significant economic benefits to loc

The Albanese Government has appointed seven experts in business, government, law and economics to advise on competition policy settings to build a more dynamic and productive economy.

We know these are difficult times for many people.

The inflation figures released this week underlined the very real cost‑of‑living pressures many Australians are facing and the very real need for the Albanese Government’s policies to help alleviate those pressures.
