The Hon Dr Jim Chalmers MP
Treasurer
Interview with Michael Rowland, News Breakfast, ABC
MICHAEL ROWLAND:
Treasurer, good morning. So you're in Winton, you're touring regional and country parts of Queensland selling the government's Employment White Paper. Practically what measures can the government do to boost employment in those rural and regional areas that desperately need it?
JIM CHALMERS:
Address to Western Queensland Alliance of Councils (WQAC) Assembly, Winton
Thank you, Uncle Michael, for welcoming us to country this morning.
Today, we acknowledge the elders, the traditions, the culture of the Koa people –
And we acknowledge the generational opportunity the Voice represents –
To recognise, and listen, and get better outcomes for the First Nations of this state and of this country.
Interview with Adam Stephen, ABC Drive, Western Queensland
ADAM STEPHEN:
Treasurer Dr Jim Chalmers is with us this afternoon on Drive. Thanks for joining us.
JIM CHALMERS:
Address to National Drought Forum, Rockhampton
Thank you, Oli, for that lovely introduction.
I’d like to acknowledge the Darumbal People as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we meet –
Their elders, customs, and traditions.
Traditional Darumbal society lived in the belief of oneness.
Where everyone and everything was related.
Interview with Sarah Ferguson, 7.30, ABC
SARAH FERGUSON:
Treasurer, welcome to 730.
JIM CHALMERS:
Thanks Sarah.
FERGUSON:
If the Employment White Paper really is a roadmap for a much more dynamic labour market, what are the first steps?
CHALMERS:
Strengthening Australian employment services
The Albanese Labor Government’s Employment White Paper outlines eight principles to guide reforms to Australia’s employment services system, with a focus on better supporting people, while collaborating with employers and communities.
Getting more Australians back into work
The Albanese Government is improving incentives to get more Australians into work.
As part of the release of the Employment White Paper, the Government will make two key changes for pension and income support recipients. These include:
Boosting opportunity for Australia’s most disadvantaged through social enterprises
The Albanese Government will work with the social enterprise sector to boost labour force participation and economic development in some of the nation’s most disadvantaged communities as a key outcome of the Employment White Paper.
