Albanese Labor Government backing small businesses
Small business is the engine room of the Australian economy, and the Albanese Labor Government is backing the sector by extending energy bill relief to help reduce cost pressures.
Around one million eligible small businesses will receive extra rebates of $150 until the end of 2025, which brings total energy bill relief up to $800 since 2022–23.

This new Statement sets expectations for the Regulator to foster a culture of prompt payment times by increasing the visibility and accessibility of payment times data.

The Albanese Government will extend a crackdown on Unfair Trading Practices to small businesses after last year’s commitment to protect consumers.
We heard during consultation on protecting consumers from Unfair Trading Practices that it is important to also extend protections to small businesses, who face power imbalances when dealing with larger businesses.
Albanese Labor Government backing low-cost legal advice for small businesses
The Albanese Labor Government is delivering on its commitment to level the playing field for small businesses by investing $2.6 million to expand the Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman’s (ASBFEO) dispute resolution service, with ongoing funding secured to ensure the service continues into the future.
