New legislation to modernise the regulation of payment service providers
The Albanese Government is delivering on its commitment to make Australia’s payment system safer, stronger, and more productive.
Today we have released the exposure draft legislation that lays the foundations for a new regulatory framework for payment service providers.
Legislation freezing beer excise introduced
The Albanese Government has introduced the legislation today freezing the indexation on the draught beer excise and custom duty for two years.

Welcome back, you’re watching AM Agenda. Well, the number of large companies not paying tax has fallen, that is the good news, but there are some 28 per cent of companies that still didn’t pay any tax in the last financial year, and there are still some companies in Australia that have never paid any tax.
More companies paying their fair share
The Albanese Government welcomes the latest ATO report into corporate tax transparency which shows the percentage of large businesses paying no tax has fallen.
The report shows large corporates paid $95.7 billion in income tax during the 2023–24 financial year with an increase in tax paid by private entities.
