Appointments – Associate Members (cross appointees) – Australian Competition and Consumer Commission

The Albanese Government has today reappointed Ms Nerida O’Loughlin PSM and Mr James Cameron, and appointed Dr Derek Johnston, as part‑time Associate Members of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).

Ms O’Loughlin is the Chair of the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) and has been reappointed as an ACCC Associate Member until 13 October 2024.

Mr Cameron is a Member of the ACMA and has been reappointed as an ACCC Associate Member until 4 August 2023.

Dr Johnston is a Commissioner of the New Zealand Commerce Commission (NZCC), New Zealand’s competition regulator, and has been appointed as an ACCC Associate Member until 31 October 2024.

Cross appointments between the ACMA and the ACCC commenced in 2007 to help ensure a consistent approach is taken when competition and communications matters intersect.

Cross appointments between the NZCC and the ACCC commenced in 2010 to promote alignment of competition law administration in both Australia and New Zealand.
