The Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasurer, Bernie Ripoll MP, will attend the Seventh Annual Financial Literacy and Education Summit in Chicago on 17 April, where he will be a panellist.
The Summit, co-hosted by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and Visa Inc, will bring together international financial literacy experts who will address potential solutions on the theme of this year's Summit 'improving women's financial literacy and capabilities globally'.
Other panellists include K. Oanh Ha, Vietnam bureau chief for Bloomberg News, Yaseen Anwar, Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, and Linah Mohohlo, Governor of the Bank of Botswana.
"Australia has been a long-time advocate of promoting the importance of financial literacy in helping families and individuals secure their financial well-being," said Mr Ripoll.
The importance of improving the financial literacy and wellbeing of women has been globally acknowledged.
"The Government recognises that there are very real structural, cultural and societal factors that are also relevant in determining the financial outcomes and wellbeing of women."
"I look forward to the engaging in discussions on this important issue."
