Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasurer and Member for Oxley, the Hon Bernie Ripoll MP, today attended Bring Your Bills as part of celebrations for the first annual MoneySmart Week.
Hosted by Youth & Family Service (Logan City) Inc, the Bring Your Bills event at the Uniting Care Community Hall in Ewing Rd, Woodridge was supported by government and community organisations. Today locals were given the chance to have their bills assessed and receive free advice and referrals on how to resolve issues they may be having in making ends meet.
"MoneySmart Week is about asking people to do a Money Health Check and there is no better way to assess your financial health than examining your bills," Mr Ripoll said.
"The locals who have attended today are taking the first steps towards having greater control of their financial situation."
Member for Rankin, the Hon Dr Craig Emerson MP, welcomed the event to help locals in Logan City.
Across Australia, local community groups are holding events to celebrate MoneySmart Week and to provide advice and support to help Australians take control of their money.
"I encourage everyone who can to get along to a MoneySmart event in their local area. There are some great events going on this week and some excellent services on offer," Mr Ripoll said.
