The Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasurer, Bernie Ripoll, will lead an Australian Parliamentary delegation to the United Kingdom to attend the Australian Israel UK Leadership Dialogue from 18-19 December 2012.
The Leadership Dialogue will provide a forum for a range of policy discussions for decision makers and opinion leaders from all three countries.
The Dialogue will focus on a range of issues relevant to the Middle East, including geopolitical and strategic issues confronting the region, and the role of education and ideas in promoting peace. The forum will be take place in the British Houses of Parliament in London.
"I am proud to be leading the Australian delegation, which includes a number of Labor and Coalition Parliamentarians, as well as representatives from the media, business and academia," said Mr Ripoll.
"The Dialogue provides a good opportunity to underscore the Australian Government's and Australian community's commitment to Israel's security and peace in the Middle East."
While in London, Mr Ripoll will also attend a range of bilateral meetings with ministerial counterparts, and representatives of key UK regulatory agencies, and private sector organisations, to discuss issues relating to corporate governance and financial literacy.
These include meetings with the Minister for Employment Relations and Consumer Affairs, Ms Jo Swinson MP, Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasury, the Rt Hon Dr Greg Clark MP, the Chairman of the Financial Services Authority, Lord Adair Turner, and CEO of the London Stock Exchange, Mr Alexander Justham.
