Appointment of Ms Sarah Court to ACCC

Assistant Treasurer and Minister for Competition Policy and Consumer Affairs, Chris Bowen MP, is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Sarah Court as a member of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).  Ms Court has been appointed for a term of five years.

Ms Court’s extensive knowledge of, and experience in trade practices law makes her an ideal candidate for the position. 

Ms Court’s appointment follows Mr David Smith’s resignation as member of the ACCC.  Mr Smith’s appointment was scheduled to expire in June 2009; however, he has resigned effective from 15 March 2008. 

Mr Smith has brought a great amount of experience and knowledge to the ACCC and his service has been appreciated.

Background

Ms Court is from South Australia and has worked with the Australian Government Solicitor (AGS) since 1996. 

She became the Director of the AGS Adelaide‑Darwin office in 1999 and the Director of the AGS National Tax Practice in 2007. 

Ms Court has also been the Client Service Manager for the ACCC since 2004.
