The Federal Coalition needs to listen to Western Australia Opposition Leader, Colin Barnett and back consumers over vested interests in the petrol market.
Mr Barnett is more than happy to support FuelWatch, without changes, and back a scheme that was first introduced in WA by a Liberal Government, and is strongly supported by that state's motoring organisations, the RACWA.
Mr Barnett knows that consumers use FuelWatch to find the cheapest prices with certainty.
Today in Perth, where Fuelwatch currently operates, motorists could use FuelWatch to save up to 17 cents a litre or $10.20 for a 60-litre tank of petrol.
The Federal Coalition should spend more time talking to Colin Barnett about FuelWatch instead of making political attacks on the consumer watchdog, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).
As the consumer watchdog, the ACCC is an extremely professional and independent organisation.
Today's extraordinary and unprecedented attack by the Member for Cowper on first class public servants at the ACCC and an experienced chairman that has served under both Coalition and Labor Governments is unacceptable.
The real question for the Coalition is the integrity of their response on issues that affect the consumer.
Why are they so opposed to measures that increase transparency and give more information to consumers?
