The Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasurer, Chris Pearce, today announced the appointment of Ms Jocelyn Furlan as Deputy Chair of the Superannuation Complaints Tribunal (Tribunal).
"As Deputy Chair, Ms Furlan will ensure the Tribunal fulfils its role to independently determine appeals against the decisions of Trustees and Insurers effectively", Mr Pearce said.
Ms Furlan has been appointed for three years on a full-time basis.
Ms Furlan has a legal and superannuation background. Previously, she was the compliance manager of ‘legalsuper', formerly the Legal Industry Superannuation Fund, and has over 15 years experience in the superannuation industry.
The Tribunal is an independent dispute resolution body that deals with certain complaints about superannuation funds, annuities and deferred annuities, and retirement savings accounts. It does this through conciliation to try to resolve complaints but where this is not possible, by formal review of decisions or conduct to which the complaint relates.
Please visit www.sct.gov.au where further information about the Tribunal is available.
