OVERTON:
Well, what this all comes down to, of course, is who can win the next election for Labor and nowhere is this more important than in the marginal electorates. David Bradbury holds one of them, that's the seat of Lindsay in Western Sydney. David, good evening to you. David, you're backing Julia Gillard aren't you?
BRADBURY:
That's right, good evening Peter. I'm backing the Prime Minister. I think she's shown very strong leadership through uncertain times and I think that she's got what it takes to take the hard decisions, the hard decisions that we as a Government have been taking that are needed to set our country up for the challenges of the future. That is the single most important consideration that I think we need to be thinking about as we go into Monday's ballot.
OVERTON:
Has the Prime Minister called you to clarify your support for her?
BRADBURY:
No she hasn't, but I've been very public in my support and I think she should better utilise her time calling other people.
OVERTON:
What's your reading of the way things stand tonight, the temperature if you like, particularly for those who are said to be undecided?
BRADBURY:
Look, I think there is a degree of relief that this is now finally being brought to a head. I know I speak for a lot of my colleagues in saying that we've been very frustrated with this clandestine, guerrilla warfare campaign that's been going on with the leaking and the backgrounding of journalists, but now at least this is being brought to a head, as unseemly as it seems now for this to be brought out into the open, at least this matter will be resolved and I hope it is resolved in a decisive manner on Monday.
