The Assistant Treasurer, David Bradbury, today released the Commonwealth Consumer Affairs Advisory Council (CCAAC) final report, Gift Cards in the Australian Market.
The report was presented to a meeting of consumer affairs Ministers today in Adelaide.
"I would like to thank CCAAC for their work and acknowledge the contribution made by the Queensland Office of Fair Trading and the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) in supporting CCAAC," Mr Bradbury said.
CCAAC has encouraged industry to develop and promote best practice principles that support consumers when engaging with these products. CCAAC did not find strong evidence to support regulatory changes.
The final report is available on the Treasury website.
