The Gillard Government welcomes the release today of the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) Taskforce Implementation Report as an important step in the reform agenda.
"The Gillard Government is undertaking historic not-for-profit (NFP) sector regulatory reform," said Assistant Treasurer David Bradbury.
"The ACNC Implementation Taskforce Report outlines key areas that will underpin the ACNC’s work as the NFP sector's Commonwealth regulator."
"The ACNC Taskforce is committed to delivering best practice regulation and will consult with stakeholders on the ACNC’s regulatory approach and principles. The report also sets out its plan for engaging with the sector and providing guidance and education."
"The ACNC report comes after the Gillard Government last week announced Ms Susan Pascoe AM as its nominee to become the Commissioner of the ACNC," said Minister for Social Inclusion Mark Butler.
"We commend Ms Pascoe and the ACNC Implementation Taskforce on their work so far and look forward to continuing to work closely together to create a world-class regulator for the NFP sector."
The ACNC Implementation Report is now available.
