Minister for Revenue and Assistant Treasurer, Senator Helen Coonan, is pleased to announce that Ms Amanda Goodban has joined her office as the Insurance and Superannuation Adviser.
"I am delighted to welcome Amanda to my team, and I am sure the business community will find her to be a knowledgeable and capable point of contact in my office on insurance and superannuation matters," Senator Coonan said.
Amanda joins Senator Coonan's staff, from the Department of Treasury where she was the Manager of the General Insurance Unit within the Financial Institutions Division.
Prior to joining the Treasury, Amanda was a Project Manager for the General Insurance Reform Group with APRA and its predecessor the Insurance and Superannuation Commission.
She has been responsible for the development of several key pieces of legislation including the General Insurance Bill 2001 and the Financial Laws Amendment Act 1997.
Amanda's academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Economics from the Australian National University and Masters of Accounting Studies from Southern Cross University.
Her portfolio responsibilities include the following policy areas -
- Administration of APRA,
- Prudential regulation of superannuation and insurance but not the banking system,
- Government response to the HIH Royal Commission,
- HIH Claims Support,
- Safety of superannuation review, and
- Levies on financial institutions.
Amanda will be based in the Minister's Parliament House office in Canberra.
