Deductibility of Gifts to the Manly Warringah War Memorial Regional Park Remembrance Trust

The Minister for Revenue and Assistant Treasurer, Senator Helen Coonan, has announced that from today to 7 April 2004, gifts to the value of $2 or more to The Manly Warringah War Memorial Regional Park Remembrance Trust will be deductible for income tax purposes.

This trust was established to raise funds to establish a unique War Memorial feature in Manly Warringah War Memorial Regional Park. This War Memorial feature will acknowledge all persons who gave their lives, served or who are serving in Australia in the armed forces and civilian support services throughout the years and includes those who work and strive for world peace.

The War Memorial feature will provide a focal point within the park for remembrance activities.

Tax deductible gift status assists the Trust to attract public support for its activities.

Legislation to give effect to this announcement will be introduced as soon as practicable and taxpayers should ensure that they receive a receipt for their donation.
