Gifts to the value of $2 or more made from 18 March 2004 to International Social Service Australia will be tax deductible, Minister for Revenue and Assistant Treasurer, Senator Helen Coonan, announced today.
“International Social Service Australia is a non-government, not-for-profit organisation offering professional social work services to people in Australia and overseas,” Senator Coonan said.
“The organisation provides care, protection and support for children and families across Australia and overseas. It offers assistance to those with social or socio-legal problems arising from migration.
“The Government is pleased to grant deductible gift recipient status to International Social Service Australia to assist the organisation in raising the necessary funds for continuing its important work.”
Legislation to give effect to this announcement will be introduced as soon as practicable.
Taxpayers should ensure they receive a receipt for their donation.
