The Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasurer, Senator Ian Campbell, today announced the new membership of the Business Regulation Advisory Group.
The group, first established in mid-1997 to provide high quality feedback from the community on the Government's Corporate Law Economic Reform Program, has been reconstituted to carry out a similar role on the latest chapter of the program, CLERP 9, released last week (18 September).
A list of the group's members is attached.
"The group played a pivotal role in earlier consultations and I am sure the experience and standing of these members will greatly benefit this latest program of reform," Senator Campbell said.
CLERP 9 reviews the effectiveness of the corporate disclosure framework, including audit independence, the continuous disclosure regime, analyst independence and enforcement issues.
In addition to consultation with the group, the Government will seek comments on the issues and proposals in the paper by November 22 and then release exposure draft legislation for further public comment. Legislation is likely to go before Parliament early in 2003.
