The Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasurer, Senator Ian Campbell, today announced the appointment of two new members to the Takeovers Panel.
They are Mr Mark Paganin, a partner with Clayton Utz, and Mr Simon Withers, a former director of Kleinwort Benson and now private investor. Both are from Perth.
The Takeovers Panel provides a mechanism for peer review of takeover activity, which has proved to be more efficient and expeditious than the courts.
Senator Campbell said: “Mr Paganin and Mr Withers have extensive experience in commercial law and will be valuable additions to the Panel.”
The appointments, effective until 7 March 2006, take the Panel’s membership to 44.
