The Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasurer, Senator Ian Campbell, today announced the reappointment of Mr John Collingwood King as the New Zealand member of the Australian Takeovers Panel.
Mr King has been reappointed as a part-time member of the Panel until 7 March 2005.
Mr King is currently the Chairman of the New Zealand Takeovers Panel. His reappointment continues the reciprocal agreement whereby one member of each Panel serves on the other.
Mr Denis Byrne was reappointed as the Australian member on the New Zealand Panel late last year. His terms also runs until 7 March 2005.
"Mr King has already made an outstanding contribution to the work of the Australian Panel and his willingness to continue that work is to be applauded," Senator Campbell said.
"The continuation of the reciprocal agreement will promote greater cooperation across the Australian and New Zealand regulatory regimes and will further foster business relationships between the two countries."
