The Morrison Government is backing innovative, female‑led startups to grow their businesses and help in our economic recovery with nearly $12 million in funding.
Under round two of the Boosting Female Founders Initiative, 38 female‑founded startups that are majority owned and led by women are being supported to take their businesses to the next level.
They include scaling In2thewild's sustainable, offgrid, transportable tiny homes across the Australian agritourism market, Quirky Kid with its smart digital mental health platform for children and their parents, and helping Woolpack with its sustainable insulated packaging used in the shipment of temperature sensitive foods, seafood and wine, to expand into South Australia and other wine regions.
Minister for Industry, Energy and Emissions Reduction Angus Taylor said the Boosting Female Founders Initiative is about helping women realise the full market potential of their innovative business ideas.
“These startups demonstrate the incredible Aussie ingenuity we want to foster around the country,” Minister Taylor said.
“Through this funding we are investing in female‑founded businesses, the women who run them and the jobs they can create both now and into the future.”
Minister for Women’s Economic Security Jane Hume said the Government is committed to empowering more female entrepreneurs.
“Supporting Australia’s women entrepreneurs to build successful businesses is good for their economic security, and good for the Australian economy.
“Diverse voices and ideas make for better businesses, and all Australians stand to benefit from the innovative products and services this talented group of women have created.”
Assistant Minister for Industry Development Jonno Duniam said the initiative was providing significant grant funding but also opportunities for business mentoring.
“This round of funding adds to the $12 million in grant funding and over 725 hours of mentoring that have already been delivered under round one,” Assistant Minister Duniam said.
“This additional funding will ensure that the support continues to deliver expanded networks, business planning and confidence to women entrepreneurs across the country.”
Successful recipients will receive grants of between $25,000 and $480,000 under the Initiative, which was expanded under the 2020 Women’s Economic Security Statement.
