The Federal Minister for Financial Services & Regulation, Joe Hockey, announced today that a new alliance has been formed to provide training for international financial organisations.
The Australian Financial Services Training Alliance (AFSTA) will allow financial service organisations to find information and arrange financial services training from Australian providers via one website.
The alliance was brokered by AXISS Australia, formerly the Australian Centre for Global Finance.
An Internet portal for the alliance will be developed and hosted by AXISS Australia, with links to each alliance member's websites and from Austrade and Invest Australia sites. This website will be operational by July 2000.
"This venture is a global first. The alliance exports our financial training to the world and is a significant step in furthering Australia's position as a centre for financial services," the Minister said.
"This sort of initiative will position Australia as the premier source of education and training in financial services, particularly for the Asian region.
"The alliance will allow companies to take a total package approach to all their education and training needs in financial services. Members of the alliance may also offer joint programs, as well as joint marketing and promotions in Asia."
Mr Les Hosking, chief executive of AXISS Australia, said: "AXISS has been instrumental in bringing together the top industry bodies to make a concerted and united push into Asia.
"The combined resources and experience of these organisations means that every company in Asia can easily access solutions for their training needs through the one website."
The organisations involved in the program are:
- Securities Institute of Australia,
- Australian Financial Markets Association,
- Financial Planning Association,
