I am immensely saddened to hear of the passing of my friend Stuart Wagstaff.
Stuart was an accomplished actor who received many accolades for his performances on screen and stage from Hollywood to Australia.
He was a debonair and charming man with a keen wit and a respect for tradition.
Stuart was very supportive of me as his local Member of Parliament. He often gave me advice that assisted the Coalition with the development of policies for the arts.
Stuart Wagstaff exemplified a very special generation of Australians. His clipped words, gentle nature, engaging smile and unwavering charm brought great delight to many Australians.
He was a significant contributor to our community and was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia for his services to the community, particularly in raising funds for children’s medical research.
He was an elegant and decent man, both on stage and off.
I will miss him, as will many across our community.
