The Coalition Government is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Margaret McDonald as a part-time member of the Foreign Investment Review Board (FIRB).
The FIRB is a non-statutory advisory body established in 1976 to provide advice on the Government’s foreign investment policy and its administration.
Ms McDonald brings to the role a wealth of experience from an extensive international career in business and in government as a senior career diplomat, in environmental policy, international trade and in philanthropy.
Ms McDonald serves on the Board of Directors of the Australian Renewable Energy Agency and on the Board of the Co-operative Research Centre for Low Carbon Living. She also served as a judge for the MacArthur Foundation #100andchange program.
She has also held leadership roles in renewables and innovative clean energy financing as COO of the Clean Energy Finance Corporation and as CEO of Low Carbon Australia, and has held senior global roles with Alcoa. Ms McDonald was a senior Australian career diplomat, including serving as Australia’s Deputy Ambassador to the United States and as Australia’s Ambassador for the Environment.
Ms McDonald’s skills and experience will complement the FIRB’s existing broad-ranging expertise in commercial, government, legal and national security matters, with Mr David Irvine AO as Chair, and members Ms Alice Williams, Mr David Peever AO, the Hon Cheryl Edwardes AM, the Hon Nick Minchin and Ms Teresa Dyson.
Ms McDonald will join the FIRB for a five year period, commencing on 26 March 2019.
