Tax Practitioners Board Appointments

The Liberal National Government is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Ian Klug AM as the new Chair to the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB).

The Government also welcomes the appointment of new member Ms Debra Anderson, and the reappointment of Dr Julianne Jaques, Mr Greg Lewis and Mr Jim Hawson, who will all serve for a three-year period.

The TPB is responsible for regulating the provision of tax agent services across all Australian States and Territories as provided for in the Tax Agent Services Act 2009.

The Board’s statutory functions include administering the registration of tax agents, BAS agents and tax (financial) advisors; investigating breaches of the Act; and imposing sanctions for non-compliance with the Act’s Code of Professional Conduct.

These appointments and reappointments continue the high level of skills and experience available to the TPB to deal with issues as they arise and provide a valuable service to the community.

The Government congratulates Mr Klug and other members on their appointment and reappointment, and looks forward to working with them into the future. The Government also wishes to thank outgoing Chair Mr Ian Taylor for his significant contribution over the last six years.
