In a new partnership, the Albanese Labor Government and the Cook Labor Government are delivering 16 new social housing dwellings in Perth’s southern suburb of Coolbellup.
The 16 new dwellings, about 15 km south of the Perth CBD, will deliver new homes for seniors on the public housing waitlist, providing an immediate boost to Western Australia’s social housing stock.
The $8.39 million commitment is funded through the Albanese Labor Government’s Social Housing Accelerator.
The Federal Government has already delivered more than $209 million to Western Australia through the Social Housing Accelerator.
Across the state, the Albanese Labor Government is working to ensure more Western Australians have a safe and affordable place to call home.
In January applications opened for the first round of funding for social and affordable homes under the $10 billion Housing Australia Future Fund and the National Housing Accord.
As part of the Cook Government’s Call for Submissions (CFS) for Social Housing, a procurement initiative introduced by the Cook Labor Government, developer Infill Property Group approached the Department of Communities presenting the opportunity to deliver these dwellings for social housing.
The CFS for Social Housing invites submissions from the housing sector to deliver social housing in Perth or regional WA, with a priority on the delivery of apartment or grouped dwelling developments.
