More affordable homes for key workers in Sydney

Work has begun on a new housing development supported by the Albanese Labor Government that will deliver more affordable homes for key workers in Schofields.

The development will include more than 100 homes, with 30 per cent set aside as affordable homes for key workers like teachers, nurses and frontline workers.

The project’s affordable homes are possible because of more than $8 million in funding provided by the Albanese Labor Government’s Housing Australia.

Civil works to support the new housing development are underway, with roads, utility services and landscaping expected to be completed by the end of 2024. Construction of the new homes is expected to start in 2025.

The Albanese Labor Government is focused on delivering more homes like this across the country with an ambitious national target to build 1.2 million homes.

We’re working with states and territories like New South Wales to help meet this target.

The Albanese Labor Government has committed more than $25 billion in new housing investments over the next decade to help deliver more homes.

This will mean more homes for home buyers, more homes for renters and more homes for Australians who need them.

The Albanese Labor Government has already delivered $610 million to New South Wales through the Social Housing Accelerator, which will help to build around 1,500 new social homes across the state.
