The Turnbull Government has moved quickly in support for the people of Melbourne, and in particular the immediate families of those who lost their lives or were injured in the Bourke Street tragedy on 20 January.
Australians are as one in their condemnation of this vicious and senseless crime.
What remains is for us to remember those whose lives have been lost and console and support those for whom life will never be the same.
The Treasury Laws Amendment (Bourke Street Fund) Bill 2017 last night passed both Houses of Parliament, ensuring that public donations are tax deductible.
In addition, the Commonwealth Government has committed $100,000 to the fund.
Members of the public who wish to donate should visit the Bourke Street Fund website. This site also contains information on support available to those who have been distressed by this traumatic event.
