The Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for the Public Service, the Hon Kelly O'Dwyer MP, today announced the appointment of Ms Linda Waugh as the new Merit Protection Commissioner.
Ms Waugh has extensive experience in complaint handling and oversight, investigations, prevention and education.
Ms Waugh has held senior roles in state governments, most recently working as an Assistant Ombudsman with the Victorian Ombudsman. She spent her early career as a psychologist before moving to the Queensland Crime and Corruption Commission in 1996. From 2003 to 2008, she was the Executive Director, Corruption Prevention for the Queensland Commission. In 2011, she moved to the position of Deputy NSW Ombudsman, a position she held until 2017.
Ms Waugh's appointment is for a five year term commencing 25 June 2018.
