Re-Appointment of Second Commissioner of Taxation

The Minister for Revenue and Assistant Treasurer, Mal Brough, announced today that the Governor-General has re-appointed Mr Michael D'Ascenzo to the position of Second Commissioner of Taxation.

Mr D'Ascenzo was first appointed as Second Commissioner of Taxation in May 1998. He plays an integral role in the management and leadership of the Australian Taxation Office. He is particularly highly regarded for his technical leadership and his contribution to building the technical decision making skills of the Office.

"Mr D'Ascenzo has made a significant contribution to tax administration in a career spanning over 25 years to date," Mr Brough said. "He is widely respected both within the Tax Office and in the tax professional community, both here and internationally."

The re-appointment is for a statutory term of seven years.
