TAX cuts and simpler paperwork are on the way for Wauchope and Mid North Coast small businesses, Lyne MP and Assistant Health Minister David Gillespie says.
On the Mid North Coast with Small Business Minister Michael McCormack as part of a nationwide small business roadshow, the Ministers heard how tax cuts, redefining small business and extending tax concessions for small business will help create more jobs and grow local small businesses.
Dr Gillespie and Mr McCormack visited Bennett’s Steel and an aged care facility to hear how local small businesspeople are creating jobs along the NSW Mid North Coast.
“We know it is small business – not Government – which creates jobs,” Dr Gillespie said.
“That’s why I wanted to take the Minister to a family-owned steel business and a local aged care facility. These are the people who create jobs and opportunities for locals, who provide the services locals need and who ensure the local economy continues to grow.
“Our small business tax cuts are an injection of confidence in local economies to help them create jobs and opportunities locally.”
Small Business Minister Michael McCormack said the recent cut in the company tax rate delivers the lowest taxes for small business in half a century.
“We are the Government for small business,” Mr McCormack said.
“Many of us – such as David and I – ran small businesses prior to our election to Parliament and that is why we understand just how important it is that the Government backs Australia’s 3.1 million small businesses.
“We have redefined ‘small business’ to an annual turnover of $10 million, enabling tens of thousands more small businesses to write off new business assets instantly, as well as to benefit from lower taxes.”
Mr McCormack said his roadshow was about listening to small businesses in their shops, on their farms and in offices across the country.
“David Gillespie and I know that when we back small business, then we help jobs and wages grow,” Mr McCormack said.
“That’s why I am meeting as many small businesses as I can, so the Federal Government can keep backing small business well into the future.”
Mr McCormack’s small business roadshow will tomorrow head to Port Macquarie and the Coffs Coast with Nationals’ MP and Assistant Minister to the Deputy Prime Minister Luke Hartsuyker.
