Riverina and Central West home to NSW Business of the Year

Forbes’ famous H E Silos took a starring role at the NSW Business Chamber Awards, taking out the business of the year award and earning the congratulations of Federal Small Business Minister and local Nationals’ MP Michael McCormack.

Located in the Central West, H E Silos began as a general engineering Australian-owned family business, constructing silos in both Forbes and Gunnedah, having now grown to become an agricultural specialist and excelled at the 2016 NSW Business Chamber Awards in Sydney last week.

“I’m proud H E Silos, a family enterprise in the Central West, out of almost 15,000 small businesses in our electorate is excelling above its weight and getting gongs like it did last week. It helps boost local business confidence and provides the recognition this business deserves,” Mr McCormack said.

“Given the tough time farmers and businesses in Forbes and the region have had this year with floods and a downturn in trade, it’s great to have the hard work and efforts of the Morrison family and their 70 staff from both Forbes and Gunnedah recognised.

“I couldn’t be more proud as local MP and Federal Small Business Minister and congratulate the owners and staff at H E Silos on their recent success. I want to thank them for their trust and investment in regional NSW and wish them all the best with the continued growth and development of their business,” Mr McCormack said.

In addition to being awarded the 2016 Business of the Year, H E Silos was named the winner in the category recognising “Excellence in Innovation”. This award acknowledges H E Silo’s commitment to business growth, excellence in innovation and employment practices and ethics, specifically the development of new ways to reduce safety risks and counter losses incurred by insect infestation and contamination.
