Note

Joint media release with
Mr Damian Drum MP
Federal Member for Murray

Small businesses and community leaders of Echuca and Shepparton met with the Minister for Small Business Michael McCormack during a visit to the region hosted by Federal Member for Murray Damian Drum.

“Small business is the engine room of this wonderful region, it is great business owners can discuss the opportunities and challenges they face in running their businesses with the Minister directly,” Mr Drum said.

“Our local small businesses have given the tick of approval for the Government’s small business package, which is helping them to get ahead, but there are still many challenges which is why it is vital we keep listening to and meeting with small businesses to get the best outcomes for them.

“I’m proud to be a part of the team backing hardworking small businesses by cutting company taxes and red tape, making it easier to do business which has a positive impact right here in Murray.

“We want to see these local job creators to thrive and grow the local economy, that’s why the Liberal Nationals Government is working hard to ensure the right policies are put in place to achieve this.”

Meeting with various small businesses along Fryers and Maude Streets, Mr Drum and Mr McCormack heard directly how the Liberal Nationals Government’s small business package is helping to create more local jobs and grow the local economy.

“It is fantastic to meet with so many great small businesses and hear firsthand how our small business package is working for this region,” Mr McCormack said.

“I understand small business having run a printing company before entering politics and I know the everyday challenges small businesses face, that’s why I’m committed to delivering the right policy settings so that they can continue to thrive.

“The Liberal Nationals Government is backing small business through tax cuts, instant asset write offs, slashing red tape and simplifying the BAS, and balancing the playing field by fixing competition policy.

“Damian Drum the Liberal Nationals Government are backing small business to grow the local economy and create more jobs.”

A Small Business Forum was also held in Shepparton so local businesspeople could get up-to-date information on the Government’s support for small business.
