The advertising campaign for the 2021 Census has today been launched by the ABS, raising awareness on the importance of the Census that will take place on Tuesday August 10.
From today, an advertising campaign will begin across TV, radio, print, digital and social media channels.
Assistant Treasurer Michael Sukkar said the commencement of the advertising campaign marked another important milestone on the path to the 2021 Census.
“We want to give Australians as much information as we can about the upcoming Census, including how it will work and what it means for them and the country,” Minister Sukkar said.
“The Census is fundamental to helping us as a nation plan for our future. Census data underpins a broad range of government, business and community decisions from major policy and expenditure to local services across infrastructure, health, education, and transport.
“Census data is used extensively for planning electoral boundaries, Federal Government grant allocation and GST distribution.”
From late July through to August, advertising will encourage Australians to begin their Census as soon as they get instructions, if they know where they will be on Census night Tuesday 10 August
This coincides with instructions being delivered to over 10 million households and a 20,000-strong team of Field Officers engaging with communities across the country.
The 2021 Census will have an extended timeframe for people to complete their Census. People don’t have to wait until Census night. If they know where they’ll be on 10 August, they can fill in their Census form as soon as they receive their instructions.
The advertising collateral for the Census can be found on the Australian Bureau of Statistics website. More information on the 2021 Census is available on the Census website.
