The Morrison Government has made the following appointments to the Australian Reinsurance Pool Corporation (ARPC):
- Mr Ian Carson AM has been reappointed as Chair of the ARPC for a further three-year period commencing from 1 July 2020;
- Ms Robin Low has been reappointed as a part-time member for a further three-year period commencing from 23 April 2020; and
- Ms Maria Fernandez PSM has been appointed as a part-time member for a three-year period commencing from 23 April 2020.
Following the terrorist events of 11 September 2001, the ARPC was established to help protect Australia’s economy from the global withdrawal of terrorism insurance for commercial property.
Mr Carson has served as the Chair of the ARPC since July 2017. He has extensive board membership experience having served on the boards of organisations including Social Ventures Victoria, SecondBite, and PPB Advisory.
Ms Low has expertise in insurance accounting and experience as an insurance board member. She previously served one term on the ARPC Board.
Ms Fernandez has a background in intelligence and counter-terrorism, priority skills needed on the ARPC Board.
