Australian households are being urged to complete their forms on Census night, Tuesday 10 August.
Around 10 million households will take part in the Census, which is the largest statistical activity undertaken in the nation.
Assistant Treasurer Michael Sukkar said that the Census was fundamental to helping us as a nation plan for our future.
“I am encouraging all Australians to take the time to complete your Census tonight and help ensure that this important statistical exercise is a success,” Minister Sukkar said.
“While filling out a Census form every five years may not seem like a big deal for most people, this plays a vital role in helping shape the decisions of government that will impact all Australians and their families in the future.
“By submitting their Census forms, all Australians have the opportunity to play a part in our democracy. We want as many Australians as possible to participate in the Census and be counted.”
Around 3.3 million households have already completed the Census, in encouraging signs that Australians have taken up the call to fill out their forms early.
In an era where cyber security and digital integrity are paramount, Australians can also be assured that every security precaution has been taken and all information collected in the Census will be securely hosted in Australia and encrypted end‑to‑end.
The Government has engaged the Australian Cyber Security Centre, the Department of Defence and the Digital Transformation Agency to ensure state of the art cyber security protections are in place.
