Australian households have already submitted 1,023,561 Census forms through the ABS website, in a strong indication that more people will complete their forms online and in advance this year.
With the Census just under a week away, the Government is encouraging households across Australia to submit their Census forms early once they receive their instructions.
Assistant Treasurer Michael Sukkar said that people didn’t have to wait until Census night to fill out their forms and that early completions will help ensure a successful Census.
“We’ve already seen over a million households fill in and submit their 2021 Census forms early and we’re encouraging even more people to do so,” Minister Sukkar said.
“This year we’re expecting around 75 per cent of people to complete the 2021 Census online. The process will be easier by allowing Australians to fill out their forms as soon as possible if they’re aware of where they will be on Census night.
“The Census plays an important role in shaping the future of our nation. We want as many Australians as possible to participate in the Census and be counted.”
From last week, households around the nation began receiving Census letters that contained guidance on how to fill out their forms online, on their mobile device or on paper.
The figure of 1,023,561 isn’t a total tally of early submitted forms as it does not include paper forms.
