I am pleased to announce the appointment of Mr David Crawford as Acting Council President of the National Competition Council (NCC) from 26 August 2004 for a period of 12 months.
The President position will become vacant when Dr Wendy Craik resigns to become Chief Executive of the Murray Darling Basin Commission. I acknowledge the great contribution that Dr Craik has made in her time both as a Councillor and President of the NCC and wish her the very best in her new role.
Mr Crawford has been a Councillor with the NCC since 1999. He is currently Chairman of the Westralia Airport Corporation Pty Ltd and the Export Grains Centre Ltd. His knowledge and experience in the areas of commerce, economics and industry make him well suited to role of Acting Council President.
